I used and practiced with alcohol markers for these paintings. I got comfortable with using them and found techniques that worked for me. I primarily use Copic with some markers from Tombow and Artist’s Loft. I also watched several artists’ videos seeing how they used their markers. In the next couple of weeks, I will be trying out the Ohuhu brand. I’m partial to the Copic or Ohuhu brands because they are refillable.

As always, I did some watercolor painting then experimented with Yupo paper samples with alcohol markers. Yupo paper is synthetic and waterproof which makes it interesting to work with. Alcohol markers are usually permanent but on this paper, they reactivate and I don’t know how to control it. The paintings turned out but it was hard not to over work the piece. I’m glad I got the samples but I don’t think I’ll be working on them too soon.
