I finally did it!
My first coloring book is submitted to the Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) site and is now waiting for approval. I’ll know in 72 hours if I become a published artist!
After a year of hard work and slumps in my confidence, I finally uploaded it to KDP. My friend, Carmen, was a great help and confidence booster. He believed in me and encouraged me to do this project. He actually sent me a lot of pictures that ended up in the book as artwork. He has a great eye for photography!
This was a very enjoyable process. I use art for relaxation after working all day. It helps to calm me down and let go of the day. Mediation before sleep. This letting go of the work day is a somewhat new concept for me. It really started during the beginning of the pandemic. I needed an outlet to de-stress and not think of work, so I decided to start drawing and painting every day. I was a bit rusty but grew my skills again in drawing, watercolors, acrylics, and now markers.
I've always liked drawing, painting, sewing, and crafting since I was a little kid. All of my siblings are art inclined. My oldest sister is a fine artist, graphic designer, and motion graphics artist. My second oldest sister is an art teacher and graphic designer. And my brother is an Art Director. We were all influenced by our mother, who loved to sew, garden, cook, and DYI. But until 4 years ago, I really didn't work on drawing or painting, only focusing on jewelry making.
Working on this project was fun because I learned new skills, expanded my art, and it kept me happily busy. I hope y'all take a look at it and consider purchasing one from Amazon. I will also be selling a digital edition edition on my website store which I’ll be working on this weekend.
Thanks again for visiting! Here are pictures of my book in KDP review. (So exciting!)
