Weekend Projects... because I don't have enough of them
During this past couple of weeks, I discovered that the crossbody bag is not quite big enough for my needed every day items. So I’m making a new one that’s a bit bigger and with more pockets. The other reason for sewing a new bag: my very large stash of fabric.
The pattern is based on a bag that I made many moons ago. It’s in the second picture. I would use this one more often but it doesn’t have enough inside pockets. The design is very simple and a good size. The art on the front is mine that I made as large patch in canvas. The new bag will have many pockets on the outside and inside to keep everything organized but no art on the front. I’ll decorate the bag with some of my button pins. That way I can change up the look as needed.
I’m using a black sheet for the outside and cotton on the inside - both will be reinforced with interfacing. Sheets are pretty durable because of the high thread count and the interfacing will stiffen up fabric to give it body. I like using colorful linings in bags, especially black ones. This prevents the inside of the bag from turning into a black hole where you can find anything. Another perk of this bag: it’ll be washable. Which is a good thing, as Martha says.
Hope y’all have a great weekend!
