A fun homemade Christmas [2023]

February 17, 2024. I really, really late post of Christmas 2023. This is late because I got busy like usual during the holidays and creating. This past year I did a lot of paintings and explored new techniques (eraser linocut art) and I was in a creative groove. So I decided to sew some shirts and a blanket for my nieces and nephew and print my linocut eraser poster for gifts.

In the last couple of years, I’ve been giving gift cards, alcohol, and other bought things. This past year, I wanted to give some unique gifts with a personal touch. I customized the Nani Iro Sewing Studio Basic shirt for my nieces and shark print throw blanket for my nephew. These were fun projects to make and complete. I purchased the fabric from two of my favorite stores: Stone Mountain & Daughter in Berkeley and Miss Matatabi Fabrics in Japan. They have really excellent and high quality fabric. I got easy care fabric for projects that they could wash and dry.

Another gift that I made were mini posters of my Inktober project of linocut pink erasers. This Inktober project was fun and it was a new technique that I learned after seeing a bunch of inspiration on Instagram. I revisited my Meow Bun theme for this project. After setting up the erasers and then experimenting with inks, the posters turned out nicely. I do have to print more of them out for my shop.

Having mostly handmade Christmas last year has inspired me to keep this up in the coming holiday season. Though I’m not sure what I’ll be doing this year. I’ll have to ask my family what they would like.
