2024 Paintings and Coloring Book Pages
Very colorful paintings and more pages for my coloring book volume two.
This month, I worked on one of my largest paintings featured above. It’s a 7”x10” full bleed mixed media watercolor, color pencils and pen painting that took around 20 hours to complete. I used several sets of Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors sets: Art Nouveau, 36-pan, and Aurora Colours. These vivid paints are very versatile and can be used in washes (background) and like gouache (leaves). During the painting process, sometimes the green of the leaves mixed with the background color to create more depth and interest.
Since I’m working on my next coloring book and drawing a lot of line art, I wanted to paint colorful pieces to keep my inspiration going. My other paintings were created with watercolor pencils (Desert Sunset & Rock Galaxy). Colorful Bubbles was painted with alcohol markers.
As for the Color Note Volume 2 project, so far I have 11 completed pages. The next volume, I’m aiming for 30 drawings for the next volume. It will probably take a year to complete all the drawings and do the sample paintings. In volume 2, the coloring pages are a mix of full bleed drawings with a lot of details and drawings mixed with tangles. See my March Projects for Lily Pads Doodle for an example of a tangle drawings.
Each drawing can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours to complete depending on the amount of details. These are enjoyable to draw but sometimes I need to find inspiration in my internet feeds. Currently, for next month’s projects, I’m working on a ocean tangle drawing. And after that, I’ll be doing another map.
